#LoveNP Shopping Event

Newport Pagnell Town Council are holding its very first ‘Newport Pagnell Shopping Event’ on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th September 2021. This event is aimed at assisting our local retailers to recover, following long periods of lockdown for Covid-19. In this respect the Town Council have been aided by Government Funding applied for by Milton Keynes Council.

At the event you can expect to find discounts and special offers galore throughout the High Street. The Farmers’ Market will, as usual, be on Friday morning between 8.30 to 13.30 followed by the Food Truck Friday Food Festival, between 17:00 to 20:00. You can also find many great pubs, restaurants and take-aways throughout the High Street and St John’s Street.

At 19:30 there will be free spooky ghost walks around the town (booking essential through MK Ghost Walks either through their Facebook page or call 07854 176686). A maximum of 5 per family for the Ghost Walk please, and book soon, as these places will go fast. Newport Pagnell is regularly regarded as one of Britain’s spookiest towns with numerous reported ghost sightings.

Don’t forget to also drop in on Friday night to the pop-up art gallery, set up at the Swan Revived Hotel in the Sherrington Room.

Shops will also remain open until 20:00 on Friday for late night shopping.

Music and entertainment will be on offer both days at Market Hill and outside Pin Petch restaurant.

On Saturday, there will be a historical tour of the town `Walk Dung Hill Lane with Don Hurst’ which will hugely expand your knowledge of the town’s incredible history. Bear in mind that Newport Pagnell is well over a thousand years old and appears in the Doomsday Book. It played a significant role during the Cromwellian combat, has industry dating back centuries, as it was on the northern coach route, is the last remaining home of velum parchment on which English Legislation and Royal Marriage Certificates are written, and of course was and remains home to Aston Martin, with its amazing Bond film association.

If you want to take part in this walk, assemble at Market Hill outside Boots the Chemist at 09:45am. Also on Saturday, pop-up shops replace the Art Gallery, located in the Sherrington room at the Swan Revived, which will be filled with local home businesses displaying their wares.

Don’t miss out, make sure you pop the date in your diary, and come to support your local businesses! Many shops will be offering free merchandise such as  #LoveNewportPagnell shopping bags and pens.
